Biography

Zhiyi Song is a 4th year student commencing the combined degree of Bachelor of Advancing Computing and Bachelor of Science at Unversity of Sydney, majored in Computer Science and Statistic. He is an Honours student under the supervision of Prof. Athman Bouguettaya.

Activity recognition in Multi-resident smart home

Project Description

The objective of a smart IoT environment, e.g., smart homes and smart campuses is toprovide convenience and efficiency for users. Understanding the activities andinteractions of users is an essential step to designing smart IoT services. We will usethermal Infrared cameras, motion sensors and indoor environment sensors to record theactivities of residents in a smart home. The thermal infrared cameras record emittedelectromagnetic radiation of anonymous end users thus protect the privacy. Theobjective of this project is to detect different activities, e.g., walking, sitting, cooking andreading by applying machine learning techniques on the collected datasets and thermalimages.
